Against the backdrop of the beautiful Mediterranean, „Carried Away“ is Lina Wertmuller’s most famous and controversial film about sex, love and politics. On an elegant yacht sailing off the coast of Sardinia, Raffaella (Mariangela Melato), a rich and stunning capitalist, enjoys the torment of Gennarino (Giancarlo Giannini), a communist sailor. Fate weaves a scenario for the other, and the roles are reversed when they both end up together on a deserted island. Raffaella must obey Gennarino in order to survive, which reaches a dramatic climax when they are rescued. They must determine whether their love can survive the harsh realities of civilization.
